At the beginning of February, the Womenâs Project kicked off its new season of meetings at the Centre Afaq with a visit from a local nurse. All nineteen women who attended had their blood pressure taken and weight measured, followed by a presentation by the nurse about the risks associated with high blood pressure and stress. The women then discussed ways to eat healthily and to exercise more frequently.
The theme of health continued the following week as the womenâs group got together to talk about food and nutrition. The meeting began with a lively aerobics session lead by Touria, the new Sports Centre Coordinator at the Centre. The women then discussed in small groups the health benefits of different fruit and vegetables.
Hopefully this health-kick will continue long into the future. Watch this space for more news about the progress of the Womenâs Group!
