Our Street Child Centre in Taroudannt is always busy hosting visitors in order to welcome help and ideas and to raise awareness of the real situation in for street-connected children in Southern Morocco.
Last week from the 27th of October to the 3rd of November, Declan, a long-time friend of MCT and GMH, visited the Centre and engaged in many activities. Although he was a visitor, he joined the team at the Centre in organising a programme to directly involve people in mutually beneficial activities. During the week, he and his group of 10 teenage boys from Ireland, joined the Moroccan staff and children at the Centre in sport activities, games and arts and crafts.
One of the most challenging activities included a language exchange of Arabic and English between the staff and children of both groups. This promotion of cross-cultural understanding included a session of traditional henna painting!
In addition to spending time in Taroudannt, the two groups organised a day visit for all to the seaside city of Agadir. Due to heavy rains on the 31st, the trip was rescheduled to the 2nd of November so that all could visit the beautiful city and enjoy the warm sun at the beach.
