This week, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Sophie, a valued member of the MCT/FAPE team.
Sophie has been a part of the MCT family since 2015, starting out as our Development Intern. She soon joined the team in Morocco, spending her first year as MCT’s Women’s and Children’s Rights Officer and helping to develop the foster care project. In 2017, she transitioned into the role of Project Manager for FAPE, leading the foster care pilot project in its exciting first year in partnership with the Ministry of Justice in Morocco, UNICEF Morocco and the EU.
Though we are sad to see her go, we sure did have fun saying goodbye! First, Sophie generally hosted a goodbye party for all the children and families from Centre Amane. The party featured performances by the children, a visit from two clowns, music and dancing, and of course, a lot of sweets!
Then it was the team’s turn to say goodbye with a beautiful dinner and evening of traditional music. It was touching to hear from all the team members who have worked with Sophie over the years, and it was clear that she has formed not only strong working relationships, but also strong personal relationships with everyone at MCT and FAPE.
Thank you for everything, Sophie! We look forward to seeing you back in Taroudant soon.
