It is with great sadness that we have recently said good bye to our long-standing social worker and co-founder of MCT, Badiaa Essamer, to start a new life with her husband in America. She is a true pioneer for the development of social work in Taroudannt and Morocco!
There are many ways we will remember Badiaa. First and foremost, her hard work and integral role within MCT â from conducting research for the launch of the Street Child Project and founding the more recent Womenâs Project to obtaining identity papers for many children within Taroudannt and paving the way to obtaining papers for further children beyond the town walls. Badiaa has ensured the smooth running of the MCT centre in Taroudannt from its beginnings and has played a great part in its on-going success.
Besides this, every member of the MCT team has strong memories of Badiaaâs lively personality and cheeky sense of humour, from visiting and working alongside her in Morocco. She will be remembered on her scooter, zipping around the streets of Taroudannt, and by her creatively hand-designed berkas. Another unforgettable memory is Badiaa leading the womenâs group in aerobics to Maroon 5âs âMoves Like Jaggerâ.
Good luck Badiaa, we wish you all the best and hope you carry on your good work with all the energy and innovation you have given MCT!
