The time our in-country team has been dreading has now arrived. We will soon say good-bye to Iqbal and Karen who have been part of the team for a long time.
Iqbal, who joined the centre Afaq in 2011 as the team secretary, quickly moved into the role of social worker. Her evident skills in building relationships with the childrenâs women at the centre were pivotal in allowing her to take on the Womenâs Project, along with the ID project. Her constant hard work and determination have been key to the development of the Womenâs Project and to support the efforts of the team in Taroudannt.
Karen started collaborating with MCT in London as an intern for the Womenâs Project in January 2013. In November 2013 she joined the team in Taroudannt, supporting the development of the Womenâs Project and the launching of the Girlsâ Project. Her valuable work and endless enthusiasm have been of great value to the women of the centre and for the whole team here in Taroudannt and back in London.
But the development of the Womenâs and Girlâs Project will not end! Iqbal and Karen will be handing over to Francesca and Touria who are excited to be continuing the work at the centre.
Notwithstanding the sadness shared by the whole team in London and Taroudannt in saying goodbye to Iqbal and Karen, we are all very excited about Iqbalâs wedding on Saturday and we wish them both the best of luck for their future life adventures!
