Since early Autumn 2012, a dozen volunteer trekkers have been working on organising and fundraising for a sponsored trek in the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco to raise funds for the Moroccan Children’s Trust. The group is now only 3 weeks away from the trek’s start date of the 19th of April!
After scaling several obstacles to maintain a group of 12 committed trekkers from across the UK, Germany and the United States, the trekkers are focusing on physical training. They are gearing up to spend 6 days camping and trekking through the still snow-capped High Atlas Mountains, starting and ending their route in Marrakesh. This includes the highest peak of the Atlas Mountain range and in North Africa – Mount Toubkal at 4,167 metres (13,671 feet).
During and after this trek, all of the group members will continue to fundraise for MCT’s Street Children Project in order to meet individual targets of £2,000. Immediately following the trek the trekkers will then visit Taroudannt to meet the team and children at Centre Afaq, to which all funds for the charity will go. Please be a part of MCT’s largest fundraiser and contribute your support through their individual Just Giving pages or through MCT’s general page and we will divide your donation amongst the trekkers.
