Last week we were happy to receive a researcher from the UK who worked with the women’s project. Her research focuses on the relationship between women’s projects and children and the relationship between the women’s group and collective parental strategies in the community. The research project has the potential to make recommendations for working with vulnerable women and children and is potentially the beginning of a much longer international project.
This kind of qualitative research provides an opportunity for the participants to tell their story and have someone listen to them – without trying to fit participants into boxes and checks – people find different ways of expressing themselves and their experiences. The women of Taroudannt confidently shared their thoughts, opinions and stories and helped to collaboratively create knowledge which will hopefully be able to help other women and children elsewhere.
We can’t wait to see the results and be able to share the stories (and herstories!) of the women from Centre Amane.
